This listing presents a unique opportunity to add an incredible pen that might be one of a kind to a Montblanc collection. This is the Montblanc Reflex Safety 6 J Calligraphy Fountain Pen from the 1920s. Reflex was a brand produced by Montblanc from the early 1900s into the 1930s. The Montblanc Reflex 6 is possibly the largest of any Reflex pen produced and is one of the longest Montblanc pens of the era, measuring a massive 19.2cm with its cap posted please see comparison beside my L139G and 149 Silver rings - THESE ARE NOT INCLUDED!

Finding any Reflex 6 is incredibly difficult. But now consider the nib.

The 14c nib is marked with the Montblanc symbol and has a 6 indicating 6 series and a large'J' on it. The distinctive heart-shaped vent-hole tells us this pen was produced no later than 1928. Beautifully, the knob has the matching letters'6 J'.

All is original and correct. What are these J nibs? They were special nibs created with calligraphy in mind. And, although they are listed in the Montblanc price literature of the time, they are very difficult to find on Montblanc pens. I have found only a handful examples of these incredible nibs.

I have only ever seen one 6J on any Montblanc pen (found among the thousands of vintage Montblanc pens on the penboard database). Combining the scarcity of Montblanc Reflex 6 pens and the rarity of the 6J nib, I think it's highly likely that this pen is the only one of its kind in circulation today. The pen is in really good vintage condition given that it's very close to a hundred years old. There are no significant dents or gashes of any kind.

It is filling and writing beautifully. And what a writer it is! The nib is in delightful condition. There is some discoloration to the hard rubber and a trip to a professional to improve the hard rubber colour would bring it to true collector grade.
