One-of-a-kind, Brown Derby Restaurant Original Caricature. This is a pencil sketch from 1937, as you can see from the artists signature and date. This actress caricature hung on the walls of the original Brown Derby restaurant in California. Amazing, obviously one-of-a-kind, as the artists that did caricatures for the Brown Derby only did one per actress/actor. There were a handful of artists that did these caricatures for this restaurant.

The Brown Derby was a very popular "hang out" for the Hollywood elite during this time period, so it was a huge honor to have your caricature hanging on the walls of this prestigious restaurant. I've had speculation from people on who this actress is, but since I'm not 100% positive, I'll leave that to the viewers to decide. This piece, along with other antiques, coins, sports cards and memorabilia was part of my fathers estate.

I'm not sure how he acquired this particular picture, but it was packed in a box, along with other items from this era, and the box was hand dated 1947. Every box that I have from his collection is dated, starting from 1947 and up to 1991 and the items from each box match the dated period listed. So, I believe he owned this caricature at least as early as 1947. My uncle (his brother), lived and worked in Hollywood at that time, so my belief on this item is that my uncle acquired it and gave to my parents as a wedding gift.
