Taormina-Marcel Fiorini-Aquatint / Etching-Signed & Numbered-Large Mid-Century French Abstract Print. Fiorini exhibited in major Paris salons and held an early exhibition at Galerie Jeanne Bucher in 1953, and he is especially respected for his intaglio work and innovative graphic processes.
He is also noted for experimenting with nontraditional intaglio matrices-including using plaster and wood panels-alongside aquatint and etching. His works are held in museum collections including the Art Institute of Chicago and Moderna Museet, Stockholm. The present work, titled Taormina, is a richly textured, architectural abstraction printed on BFK Rives-an esteemed French cotton printmaking paper widely used for fine art editions. The special intaglio process is evident in the heavy plate embossing visible on the reverse, a hallmark of a strongly pressed impression. It is pencil signed and numbered 59/160 (edition number partially smudged, as photographed). The impression is in good condition. There is a tear to the lower margin that does not affect the image area. The paper has minor age related toning.
