Unique autograph of the great composer Gustav Mahler and his sister Juntine on a petition to the court to grant Justine "emancipated" status after the death of their other. Document is approx 13 1/2" x 8 1/4". Also included is a translation of the document prepared by Professor Henry-Louis de la Grange, Director of the Gustav Mahler Library in Paris (See below).

Nachdem meine Schwester sparsam, haushalterisch, fleissig und derartig verlasslich ist, dass ihr die Verwaltung ihres Vermogens mit vollster Beruhigung Oberlassen werden kann, nachdem meine Schwester mit ROcksicht auf den vor einigen Tagen erfolgten Tod unserer Mutter lglau verlasst und ihr standiges Domizil in Budapest nehmen und daselbst im gemeinschaftl ichen Haushalte mit mir leben wird und nachdem die Verwaltung 1. Md eventuelle Realisierung ihres - ihr nach unserem Vater zugefallenen kleinen Vermogens mit verhaltnismassig grossen Kosten verbunden ware wenn dieselbe unter lngerenz der Vormundschaftsbehorde geschehen mOsste so stelle ich unter Mitfertigung meiner Schwester die Bitte. DasHochlobliche Kreisgerichtwolle meine Schwester Justine Mahler fOr grossjahrig erklaren und das Dekret zu Handen meines Vertreters Herrn Dr. IMPERIAL AND ROYAL DISTRICT COURT. According to her birth certificate obtained from lglau on 15th April 1889 my sister Justine Mahler was born on 15th December 1868 and will therefore be very shortly 21 years of age.

Considering that my sister is economical, a good housekeeper , industrious. High costs if it had to be done under the active supervision of the Board of Guardians. Accordingly I and my sister jointly undersigned submit the following request. That the Highly Esteemed District Court declare my sister Justine Mahler to have attained her majority and transmit the Order to my representative Dr. One-Of-A-Kind Gustav Mahler Autographed Document Music Composer" is in sale since Wednesday, April 24, 2019.
