White & Purple Ruffled Hand Blown Glass Vase by Essie Zareh One of A Kind. This lovely vase is hand blown glass with color detail in white and accents in purple. Curved ruffled detail at mouth.

Measures 17" tall and 7" diameter at base. Made in southwest Russia, each piece is hand blown and has one of a kind detail and colors. The artist, Essie Zareh, uses multi-layer colored glass for each design. Each color represents one layer of glass and there is no painting. Each piece is an original creation and there may be slight variation in size, pattern and color.

The art of hand blown glass making is an old tradition which goes back about 3000 years when the Persian Empire ruled the region. In the late 18th century Azerbaijan fell under the Russian rule and finally in 1989 got its independence and became The Republic of Azerbaijan. The tradition of glass making has not been changed since the 18th century and they are still made in the style of those days in brick ovens with black oil.
