ANTIQUE VINTAGE AUTHENTIC HAGENAUER WERKSTATTE. SOLID WOOD HEAD OF A YOUNG AFRICAN MALE.

ETCHED INTO THE BASE OF MODEL. Franz Hagenauer the younger son of father Carl Hagenauer - brother of Karl. Born 1906 - started working in the family business in 1926.

After the death of father Carl in 1928, the two sons expanded the workshop and began modeling and manufacturing African-inspired sculptures. I owned and operated an antique and vintage Decorative Arts (statuary, vases, paintings) storefront in New York City called JOIA for 36 years. There was noone like Hagenauer for refined, sensuous, graceful figural and animal pieces. Every work begs to be caressed.

I retired and moved to Florida in 1996 taking my remaining inventory with me. Enjoy this authentic vintage Hagenauer Werkstatte one of a kind wood piece which has been in my possession since 1969 that's 49 years!
