This singular, creative 5 1/2 kokeshi doll was uniquely handmade by Lisa & Jacob Hodson of Naomi Gallery, and showcases traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a modern, artistic flair. Her name is Taru and she is created from ginko.

She has a robust figure and wears a richly textured black kimono with teal, gold and brown ribbon accents. She has sections of naked wood with visible grain, that have tri-colored etched, pyrographic blossoms. She wears tiny white clogs. Her intricate detailing and bold use of color create a miniature piece of art. The photos don't do justice to the precision and expertise used to design this amazing doll.

Her joyful expression, whispy hair and cute kanzashi (hair clip)add to her charm. Taru captures the essence of Japanese artistry attention to detail, and design, making her a valuable addition to any collection. She is absolutely adorable and amazing!
