Gerber Command II Knife / Sheath - Presented to me by Pete Gerber - One of a Kind. This knife was sent to me by Pete Gerber in recognition of an idea that I had sent him. The idea was for a rawhide or elastic cord to secure the sharpening steel that was attached to some of the Mark II sheaths and held in a sub-sheath. The idea was to have 2 securing points for a lanyard of sorts to hold the sharpening steel in place. The goal was to keep the sharpening steel from falling out.
On reflection I don't know (or don't remember) why I felt that this was a problem. And after some thought Pete Gerber did not think it was such a good idea either I kind of agree. In any event he most graciously sent me the prototype sheath along with a Command II knife. The sheaths with sharpening steels attached are somewhat rare; this one is obviously the rarest.
Also we will send the original UPS. Packing sleeve in which Gerber sent the knife and sheath in 1981.
