WWII RARE AVG FLYING TIGER ONE OF A KIND THEATER MADE TIGER BADGE GROUPING. Bought by me from the 3rd squadron Hells Angels AVG crew chief many years ago.
Massive one of a kind theater made Tiger badge. Unbelievable nearly 3D construction, highest quality. The crew chief was a lover of jewelry and spared no expense having a jeweler create this piece as well as more mundane jewelry items as well as embroidered items. He is shown proudly wearing it on his AVG uniform on his return to the states. He was one of the survivors but all his possessions went to the bottom.
In the photo you can see some of the oil stains on his sleeve from the water, included as well is his AVG Chennault signed photo ID card that was in his pocket that day. It obviously shows much damage from water immersion but he kept it as a poignant artifact. The uniform with equally unique shoulder tabs is in a museum in Seattle I believe. There are also a few notes, signed card and signed copy of photo. Also an original CAMCO document from 1942 that was sent home. A photo as well that I took of him holding up a few artifacts. I took one shot of his massive badge next to a full size Tiger badge for comparison - the other is not included. Lastly included are the transfer of ownership papers signed by him to me, also noting that he changed the open catch on the badge to a swivel catch as he has almost lost it when it became unpinned once. In my humble opinion the best theater made badge of WWII. Please see my other auctions for more estate military items.
