An Original Soft Sculpture Work by an American Listed Artist. My Little Sailor Bear with his boat by artist C. Just about 2.75 inches tall. One of a kind small teddy bear.

Hand Made in the USA One-of-a-Kind OOAK. This bear is new, stored in cabinet, it has never been played with, it is from the artist's collection. A lovely unique bear made from ultra suede. The tiniest little teddy wearing a vintage toy hat and red ribbon bow tie.

Adorable and ready to share his secrets with a new friend. All completely hand made, jointed. This bear has sewn on eyes, not glass a usual for Roosevelt bears.

From the artist's own collection. Oh, this is one of my very very favorite bears that I've made... Okay, I'm not even sure I should part with this little bear.

Just while photographing him, I realized how sweet he is. This is a very early bear, I made in 1986 which is the year I started making teddy bears. He is only 2.75 inches tall, he is all jointed, made from powder brown ultra suede, completely stitched by hand.

The boat came first, then the hat and the the bear to fill them. The little boat was a yard sale find, and is marked Made in German Democratic Republic... So it must be pretty old. I added the paper sail and the SS Bear flag.

As I look at these photos, I realize that this is very primitive for me, in other words, not as professional looking as my current works. His little face is ever so sweet. The way his head is cocked under his little blue captains hat. His little wooden boat is a bit shabby, but it just seems to be part of his character. I learned to sail when I was 10 and have always had an affection for the grandeur of sail boats. Living near the sea, ones life tends to have a nautical theme. The boat measures 6.5 inches long, and about 6 inches high.

I made it the way you see it for myself, and yes the little paper flag is taped on. So you'll have to consider it fairly primitive. CP It would make a wonderful gift for the teddy bear lover in your life, even if that is you!! When you consider that well over 10,000 different bears were made by the Roosevelt Bear Co, this is a truly unique bear. This item, although expertly constructed is not a toy.

Yes, the boat was vintage when the bear was made in 1986. Both bear and boat may be slightly dusty, although it's been stored in our bear cabinet.
