This stunning hand turned burl wood vase is a unique piece of art signed by artist Dave Kindley. Hand crafted from Northern California Manzanita wood this solid vase shaped work of art is a stunning example of late-mid century modernism. The piece is easy to care for and can be polished with oil or cleaned with a damp cloth or lightly oiled brush. With its knotted design and free-form shape, this vase is a one-of-a-kind piece of art and regional history perfect for collectors of unique and rare items.

Very good condition, some resin loss in a bottom crevass. Signed in permanent marker and original maker label on bottom.

Approximately 8" tall, 8" diameter and 26 circumference at widest point. Born David James Kindley Sr. To Elmer and Doris Kindley in Richmond, IN on August 13, 1950. His family moved to Southern California when Dave was sixteen. While attending Coachella Valley High School Dave worked as a volunteer firefighter and met his wife Bette. Dave and Bette were married on September 3, 1970 and had three children: David Jr. Dave worked for CalFire as a seasonal firefighter until he started a career in woodworking.

In 1976 Dave and Bette moved to Eureka, CA where they have lived for the past 35 years. Shortly after moving to Eureka Dave opened Kindley's Burl where he continued the woodworking business. Dave enjoyed making vases, bowls, and other items out of redwood burl and also having his two sons help him in the business when they were kids.
