Winged Pegasus Hood Ornament On Bronze Base- Pure Art Deco-one Of A Kind

  
Several years ago, I was looking at some old bronze reproductions of antique car hood ornaments. When I saw this bronze iconic PEGASUS it struck me that he was more like a piece of art. So instead of mounting her atop a marble base like so many other trophies, I used an interesting old lamp base from the 1950's for the stand. This time some time to assemble but I think the overall combination is both unique and still vintage. She truly appears to be flying in an incredible powerful pose. The base style and ornate design fit this version of the PEGASUS perfectly! There are a number of versions of the Pegasus throughout the world of vintage hood ornaments. This one is modeled after the 1921 version, and photographed in Legrand's book at Plate 618. Martin and seen on base. The mascot overall measures approximately 4 inches in diameter and 12 nches high. Pegasus is made of bronze with a wonderful bronze patina. It is secured to base with a bolt and nut to hold it tight. Quite solid and heavy, weighing about 1.4 pounds.
