Huichol Indian yarn painting on masonite board that measures 11-3/4 sq. It has a wire hanger attached.
While I was there a tall proud Huichol man dressed in white with colorful ribbon trim accompanied by his son came into the gallery with pieces to sell the gallery. I learned that they had taken the bus from their village in the mountains that day. I was told by the gallery owners (their "card" attached) that the Huichols took peyote as part of their religious experience and then recorded their visions. Each color has a meaning to them. The piece is one of a kind and very skillfully executed by a master in yarn set into a beeswax base. I have enjoyed this for many years, but time to pass it on to someone who can appreciate this work of art.
